The security of raw material supply is the main barrier to the installation of new plants for the use or exploitation of biomass in its different ways. Therefore, CTAER is working on technologies that allow greater competitiveness in the collection, analysis of the residue potential, development of appropriate energy crops as well as better practice in logistic systems that enable the possibility to integrate waste collection in cultivation routine activities.
Our challenge is to contribute to the competitiveness of this renewable energy source in all its facets and the introduction of the tradition to make use of agricultural residues, providing solutions and operating equipment.
The CTAER biomass department is located in the Scientific and Technology Park GEOLIT (Jaén, Spain). This area of CTAER has a total area of 500 square meters, of which 120 square meters are technical offices, with the rest of the place dedicated to testing laboratories where researchers carry out different projects, all related to the energy use of biomass. The public loan used for the laboratory was of 1.100.000 €.
